Gas infrastructure plays a crucial role in supporting Europe’s transition to a net-zero energy system. With an extensive network of pipelines, import terminals, and gas storage facilities, Gas Infrastructure Europe (GIE) and its members are well-positioned to facilitate the transition by adapting existing gas infrastructure to handle sustainable energy carriers like hydrogen, biomethane, and (bio-)CO₂.

Common Futures collaborated with GIE to develop a strategic storyline that aligns internal teams and strengthens external communication with stakeholders. This storyline emphasizes the role of gas infrastructure in supporting grid stability, cost-effective energy storage, and the reliable supply of energy during the transition to a zero-emissions future.

As part of our work, we also created a two-page introductory document for newly elected Members of the European Parliament. Titled “We Unite Energies”, this document includes a clear vision statement, a one-minute pitch, and storytelling visuals on the role of gas and gas infrastructure in a sustainable energy system. The two-pager underscores GIE’s commitment to leveraging gas infrastructure as a flexible and resilient foundation for Europe’s energy needs during and beyond the transition.
